The conceptual Richmond Rapids is a United Football League team located in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond was chosen as the location for this expansion due to it being a football-talented region and a large metropolitan area without a professional sports league.

The team is named in reference to the James River that runs through Richmond, a white water river with intense currents that gives way to residential use for kayaking, rafting and other activities that make it ‘The most Richmond thing about Richmond’.

The main logo mark depicts an Atlantic Sturgeon, a protected and researched resident of the James River with a huge stature and shark-like qualities. Keeping with the illustration style of professional football logos, the sturgeon is barring its teeth, ready to fight just like this team is.
